The world gives you many reasons to fear. Violence, sickness, and financial crisis are just a few. But regardless of the reasons, God clearly tells you not to fear (Isaiah 41:10). He is not the creator of it, and He does not give it (1 Timothy 1:7). When you are faced with opportunities to fear, it’s your choice whether you receive it or reject it. By receiving and believing the love God has for you, you cast out the fear and receive His peace (1 John 4:18).
Choosing to obey God and not to fear delivers you from far more than the situations you face. Like anything God commands you to do, He is looking out for your good. He wants you to win in every situation …. and avoid fear’s negative repercussions. Here are just a few good reasons not to fear:
- It undermines your health
- It inspires irrational thinking
- It triggers bad decision-making
- It robs your peace
- It destroys your faith
- It hinders you from receiving blessings from God
- It allows the devil to steal, kill, and destroy from you
If you’re plagued with fear and want to be free of its effects, choose to fill your mind with God’s Word. Remind yourself of His promises of protection and deliverance. Cast down fearful thinking until all that thrives in your mind and heart is God’s peace (2 Corinthians 10:5)!
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).
